Health Equity: The New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals – 14th International Conference on Urban Health

26 September 2017 - 29 September 2017

The 14th International Conference on Urban Health brings together researchers, educators, practitioners, policy-makers, health and urban stakeholders and community leaders across disciplines and sectors, geographic boundaries and high, middle and low-income countries, to exchange ideas and advance evidence-based policies and practice to promote health and equity for individuals in urban settings.

Ultimately, the conference aims to advance attention to and understanding of the multiple determinants of urban health and the effects of urbanization by: promoting transdisciplinary and, inter-sectoral collaborative research, education, policy and practice; fostering international discussion of urban health issues; and building networks among individuals engaged in urban health regionally and worldwide: public health and medical professionals, epidemiologists, urban planners, architects, geographers, climate change scientists, transportation experts and others who recognize the value of collaborative research, education, policy and interventions that promote urban health.

The theme of the 2017 conference, “Health Equity: The New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals”, places emphasis on the importance of health equity as a cross-cutting theme in urban settings, in light of the emerging HABITAT III New Urban Agenda and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
