17 ENSCC projects approved

JPI Urban Europe would like to announce that 17 projects in the ERA-NET Cofund Smart Cities and Communities call have been approved. The projects will start running in the first half of 2016.

After the first evaluation stage 32 consortia were invited to submit full proposals in September 2015. Now, 17 outstanding projects have been selected for funding and will be running for three years from the first half of 2016 onwards. Funding agencies from twelve countries participate in the call with a total available budget of more than 28 million Euro. The research projects will take place in four different topics:

  • Smart integrated urban energy and transport systems
  • Smart tools and services for integrated urban energy and transport systems
  • Smart data, big data
  • Smart governance and smart citizens

JPI Urban Europe is convinced that a lot of research and innovation with the potential of shaping urban policies and practices, will take place on the intersection of different disciplines and in collaboration with practitioners and other stakeholders. Collaborative transnational innovation projects, with elements of strategic or applied research, will be funded and consist of consortia with different types of researchers and implementation partners with an emphasis on the inclusion of end-users and stakeholders.

Participating funding agencies in the ENSCC call: Austria – FFG, Belgium DGO6, Innoviris and FNRS, Cyprus – RPF, Finland – TEKES, the Netherlands – NWO, Norway – RCN, Portugal – FCT, Romania – UEFISCDI, Spain – CDTI, Sweden – Formas, Swedish Energy Agency and VINNOVA, Switzerland – CETEC and Turkey – TÜBITAK
