Results JPI Urban Europe Second Pilot Call

The Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe would like to announce the results of the second pilot call. In September 2013 145 multilateral pre-proposals have been submitted. After the first evaluation stage 36 applicants have been invited to submit a full proposals in January 2014. Now, 10 outstanding projects have been selected for funding and will be running for three years from September 2014. Funding agencies from ten countries have participated in the second pilot call – Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Turkey and United Kingdom – with a total budget of more than 10 million Euro. The research projects will take place in two different topics

1. Governance of urban complexity

2. Urban vulnerability, adaptability and resilience

with the ultimate goal of finding solutions to some of the major urban challenges.

JPI Urban Europe is convinced that a lot of research and innovation with the potential of shaping urban policies and practices, will take place on the intersection of different disciplines and in collaboration with practitioners and other stakeholders. Projects have been funded with varying approaches within the research and innovation landscape (i.e. basic research, applied research and innovation) and consist of consortia with different types of researchers with an emphasis on the inclusion of end-users and stakeholders.
