These days, urban decision makers are faced with both unprecedented challenges as well as new opportunities, as the environment around them grows ever more complex. Therefore, for local governments to make holistic, sustainable, and well-founded decisions they need to be able to tap into as many important sources of information as they can. The UrbanData2Decide project aims to help them in this regard. The project extracts and processes information from two rich sources, public social media and open data libraries. After doing this, the project takes this information and combines it with the advice of expert panels to support governments in their goal of making well informed local decisions which take into consideration the views and perspectives of all relevant stakeholders. The project also aims to combine existing big data pools and expert knowledge to achieve the same goal on a much larger scale. The project consortium works together in close collaboration with the Major Cities of Europe Network, the City of Malmö, the City of Oxford, and the City of Manchester.
