SUMMARY:Urban Transitions Pathways Symposium 2018
DESCRIPTION:The symposium aims to capture the complexities and relational ramifications in a ‘dilemma-driven’ approach to the urban societal challenge of sustainable and liveable cities and urban areas (yet in an accessible format): how do we ask the questions? What types of urban R&I are relevant to tackle the challenge? If possible\, indications of ways or ‘requirons’ needed to steer towards synergies: what kinds of re-thought understandings of how the urban works would it require? What kinds of ‘impossibilibilites’ present obstacles against turning friction into traction? Further details in the PDF \nSave the date: Urban Transitions Pathways Symposium 2018 \nContact\nJonas Bylund\njonas.bylund@jpi-urbaneurope.eu \nRegistration

SUMMARY:7th International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference Society. Health. Welfare
DESCRIPTION:Rīga Stradins University is proud to announce that the 7th International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference SOCIETY HEALTH WELFARE 2018 will be held on 10th-12th October\, 2018 in Riga. The conference is dedicated to urban and rural studies from different perspectives under the title “Contemporary Social Dynamics and Welfare: Urban and Rural Development Perspectives.” \n“Society. Health. Welfare” has become a recognised International Conference which brings together researchers and specialists of various fields: sociology\, public relations and communication\, health and rehabilitation\, pedagogy and psychology\, social welfare and social work\, economics\, law and political science. \nCities and countryside are traditionally associated not only with differences in lifestyles but also with differences in opportunities\, highlighting the gap between centres and peripheries. \nFrom a rural perspective\, practical issues such as access to health\, education\, humanitarian services\, employment\, as well demographic processes\, leisure and culture\, etc. are still relevant. \nThe opportunities of the contemporary modern society make it possible to experience the rhythm of the globalized world and build links and contacts that today contribute to the gradual convergence of contrast between the cities and the countryside. \nWe invite to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations on research in the following areas: \n\nPolitical and Economic Determinants of Urban-Rural Development\nUrban-Rural Linkages and Implications for Lifestyle and Socio Cultural Development\nCommunity-Based Health Care and Health Promotion\nPotential of Human and Social Capital in Urban-Rural Development\nUrban / Rural Linkages and Impact on Community Safety\nSocial Enterprise as Potential for Development of Social Services and Community Welfare\n\n  \nAll registrations and abstract submission will take place via the official conference web page\, which currently is being developed. Meanwhile more information will be available here: https://www.rsu.lv/en/society-health-welfare-2018-conference \n  \nThe official language of the conference is English\, therefore all abstracts have to be written in English. \nThe deadline for abstract submission: April 1st\, 2018 \nPresenting authors must register by August 1st\, 2018 \n
