On 22nd of September, JPI Urban Europe, Start International and ICLEI Africa kicked-off the co-organised workshop series “Driving urban transitions towards sustainable and just futures in Africa”. The aim of this workshop series is to develop visions and fields of action for urban transitions in Africa. As contribution to the African Mobility Month 2021, the first workshop focussed on the 15-Minute City, one of the transition pathways of JPI Urban Europe’s upcoming Driving Urban Transitions Programme.

The report maps city related actions, initiatives, platforms and networks funded under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme, including JPI Urban Europe initiatives and the proposed urban partnership Driving Urban Transitions to a Sustainable Future (DUT).

JPI Urban Europe, together with the European Commission, will host a participatory lab at the 19th European Week of Regions and Cities 11- 14 October. The session takes place on 13 October, 11.30am – 1.00pm CEST and explores how national and EU programming support can step up the game towards 2030.
The Driving Urban Transitions partnership, currently under preparation as part of the next Horizon Europe, follows a challenge-driven approach. We aim to co-design the programme together with problem owners and urban actors and therefor invited city representatives to join Focus Groups and help shape this multi-year programme. The 10-day event will give prospective applicants and other stakeholders of EU research and innovation the opportunity to get information and ask
