Main target groups

JPI Urban Europe focuses on a transition to sustainable and liveable urban futures. Our projects are a vast resource of innovative and applicable solutions for the urban challenges we face.

In order to be successful, we need to bring together experts from various disciplines and sectors. This transdisciplinary approach will create opportunities for innovative projects and solutions.

We invite representatives from businesses, cities and research to take part in research activities and to join the Agora – JPI Urban Europe Stakeholder Involvement Platform.

Business
The involvement of businesses is beneficial for the businesses who will have the chance to bring entrepreneurship into our projects and activities. There are several roles for business, such as supporting the uptake of results into business solutions; developing new technologies and infrastructure solutions; enhancing involvement of companies and consideration of business needs in the project.

Cities
Cities are welcome to validate and promote new concepts and results, strengthen involvement in research and innovation projects. Cities can benefit by contributing to the definition of new requirements for and implementation of new technologies establishing strong city partnerships along project clusters.

Research
JPI Urban Europe welcomes the scientific and research community. We offer support in experience exchange to build projects upon each other, to ensure uptake of latest insights and achievement in future projects; to bring together experts from various disciplines and sectors. This transdisciplinary approach will create opportunities for innovative projects and solutions.

Society
Currently there is a lack of representation in urban decision making, with segments of society having no voice: the need for representative and democratic urban governance call for social innovation, participatory approaches, and deliberate co-creation of urban knowledge and policy. This co-creation should in principle involve citizens and public and private actors as well as urban experts of all sorts (scholars, consultants…); because the issues at stake, including highly technical ones, overflow traditional disciplinary boundaries. This also applies to urban research, hence JPI Urban Europe wants to involve society in its research policy to ensure that the urban needs of the citizens are met.

Agora
Agora – JPI Urban Europe Stakeholder Involvement Platform aims at creating the space to meet and exchange for urban actors with a diversity of background (researchers, practitioners, public administrators, entrepreneurs, social innovators, etc.), discussing current themes and priorities and identifying the most pressing urban challenges of today and the future.

In the scope of the Agora – JPI Urban Europe Stakeholder Platform we are organising workshops and meetings on diverse topics to which we invite business representatives to discuss, exchange and give talks.
