Project Description

Sustainable and Resource Efficient Cities – holistic simulation and optimization for smart cities

Smart cities present an exciting opportunity for projects that look at the integration of different policies which have the same objective. Surcity is one such project: it aims to integrate policies and measures for creating low carbon energy systems which includes good mobility services that meet sustainability goals on air quality, land use, efficient water use, jobs creation, and improved governance. This will be achieved by using a software platform which bridges various scientific models to create a holistic and optimal design for local energy and emission reduction strategies in the medium term and long term. This will be designed for neighbourhoods, cities, and the end users of this information (politicians, citizens, and companies etc.).
