At the DUT projects meeting in Brussels in April 2024, a need for thematic exchange between PED projects was expressed – the PED Expert Support Facility is excited to hereby invite you to participate in a series of 5 thematic deep-dives focusing on challenges faced and solutions developed by the PED projects.
Experts/project partners from JPI Urban Europe PED Call II and DUT Call 2022 are highly welcome to join these deep dives. DUT Call 2023 PED projects will be invited to join as soon as projects have started working. Please share this invitation with your project partners!
Event Details
This event series is an excellent opportunity to share insights, collaborate with fellow professionals, and explore best practices in the field of sustainable urban development. Furthermore, the PED deep-dives shall serve as a starting point for synthesising approaches, achievements and learnings in different areas from the PED projects. We will therefore make recordings of the deep-dives internally available and develop 2-3-pagers for each topic discussed.
The sessions will be held as 2 – 2,5 hour long online workshops, facilitated by either ESF-members or experts from the PED Call II projects. We would be honoured to have you join us – please save the dates.

Background information
As cities around the globe face the challenges of climate change, urbanization, and energy demand, PEDs present a promising solution by integrating renewable energy sources, efficient energy management, and community engagement. Our thematic deep dives will explore various aspects of PEDs, including how to operationalise the PED Framework, stakeholder engagement and social aspects, digital Twins and decision-making tools as well as financial instruments and business models. The PED deep-dive series shall serve as an entry point for thematic exchanges and collaboration between the PED projects.
Agenda Highlights
Each meeting will be structured in a similiar way and will consist of short pitches and interactive settings for discussion. Key elements of the agenda include:
- Introduction to challenge-owners and to topic
- What’s the general challenge in this topic?
- Which approaches did you identify?
- What are good practice examples?
- Recommendations
There will be specific invitations with a meeting link for each of the 5 thematic deep dives which will be sent out around 1 month prior to each occasion, but please don’t hesitate to already block the date & time of each session that you feel are of most interest to you.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to the conversation on specific challenges and solutions on different themes of the PED landscape, paving the way for accelerated learning and valorization between experts, projects and countries in Europe – enabling replication and scaling of PEDs beyond 2025. We look forward to your positive response.
