Kick-off Positive Energy Districts City Panel

European cities are key actors in achieving energy and climate targets. The Positive Energy Districts and Neighbourhoods Programme joins forces with all stakeholders, in particular through a cooperation with cities and municipalities, for making possible the large-scale implementation and replication of 100 Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) by 2025.

On 6 November 2019, the kick-off in the PED City Panel which will serve as advisory board in the PED Programme took place in Berlin. Eight city representatives nominated by the countries supporting SET Plan Action 3.2, together with representatives city networks and funding agencies had a productive workshop, elaborating on the suggested PED Framework, topics for the first PED Call and a working mode for the City Panel. With a strong commitment of the participants to the overall targets, the PED Programme received valuable input regarding cities’ needs:

  • Focus on practical exchange of experience: organizing site visits and peer-to-peer-exchange, building of a knowledge platform
  • Specification of the PED Framework
  • Focus on strategies regarding PED and urban refurbishment, building on existing urban structures
  • Inclusion of developers’ perspective and development of business models

The 2020 activities of the PED City Panel are currently being planned, stay tuned for updates and information.
