This conference’s aim is to implement established priorities into concrete actions – to step up the game. With lead from moderator James Mawson, CEO and editor-in-chief of Mawsonia, the first plenary session will target ways to drive urban transitions in the wake of international policies such as the EU Green Deal, the Urban Agenda for the EU and the Leipzig Charter. In the second session, focus will be on what cities need in order to speed up the needed transformation, and what partnerships, organisations and networks need to do in order to support them. The session will be followed by breakout sessions on the three DUT pillars. Participants can join their session of choice:
1) 100 Positive Energy Districts and Neighbourhoods – Transforming the urban energy system
2) The 15 minutes City – Rethinking the urban mobility system and space
3) Downsizing District Doughnuts – An integrated approach for urban greening and circularity transitions
The program finishes with a keynote from Professor Greg Clark, Global Advisor on Future Cities. Greg’s core role as Senior Advisor on Future Cities and New Industries at HSBC Group covers future urbanisation, mobility, digital transformation, sustainable development, and impact investing and he supports leaders in more than 300 cities world-wide on strategic futures. In his keynote speech, Greg will have a look at European cities from a global context – as the world is becoming more and more urbanised, what makes European cities stand out and why is it that they matter more now than ever before?
Exhibitions
Organisations, networks and projects supported by JPI Urban Europe will exhibit their research- and innovation results in an exhibition area that remains open throughout the day. Visiting the exhibition rooms is a chance to explore new results and connect with future partners via their chat rooms. Do you also wish to exhibit at the conference? Two new DUT reports
In preparation of the European Partnership “Driving Urban Transitions to a Sustainable Future” (DUT), JPI Urban Europe conducted specific public consultations via surveys, events and meetings. Stakeholders from 133 cities from 29 European Countries answered to the online survey consultation, and due to large interest, the AGORA Dialogue on DUT was extended into two occasions. Over 60 participants from 24 different countries and a variety of professional backgrounds joined the online workshops in May, and co-designed key elements of the DUT programme. You can now access two reports from these DUT preparations:
