On December 9th the joint Belmont Forum and JPI Urban Europe Call Sustainable Urbanisation Global Initiative (SUGI)/Food-Water-Energy Nexus opened for applicants. The call has three topics that address urgent and long-term challenges within the Food-Water-Energy Nexus.
The call aims to develop more resilient and applied urban solutions that bring together inter- and transdisciplinary research and innovation from across the globe, to benefit a much wider range of stakeholders: i.e. researchers, cities, civil society and business. The rapid urbanisation of the world’s population underscores the importance of this focus. Three call topics are defined:
The call topics will enable the participants to develop projects that aim to find solutions to the Food-Water-Energy Nexus for a sustainable urbanisation. The ultimate goal is to rapidly evolve the knowledge base, advance indicators and assessment tools that are needed for a comprehensive understanding of the Food-Water-Energy Nexus.
The Sustainable Urban Global Initiative (SUGI)/Food-Water-Energy Nexus is a call jointly established by the Belmont Forum and the Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe. Belmont Forum and JPI Urban Europe have partnered to ensure participants across physical, natural, social sciences and arts and humanities as well as policy and decision makers and stakeholders around the world. The call is supported and funded by funding agency members of Belmont Forum and JPI Urban Europe and the European Commission.
