UERA Leipzig, 12 January 2017
By Jonas Bylund, member of the JPI Urban Europe Management Board, Research and Innovation Officer
The Urban Europe Research Alliance (UERA) organised a matchmaking event in support for the SUGI–FWE Nexus joint call collaboration between Belmont Forum and JPI Urban Europe at the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) premises in Leipzig, Germany.
International representation
Over 40 people participated in the event. Amongst them there were research performing organisations (30) and other stakeholders like innovation organisations and funding agencies. Many German partners were present, but also intercontinental representatives, e.g. National Taiwan University and Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) from Japan participated in search for partners in the bid.
Opportunity for direct communication between various parties
The importance of such match making events became obvious again by the various questions of participating research organisations addressed to the funding agencies. The opportunity of direct interaction of involved funders and bidding parties is appreciated to raise understanding of call expectations as well as national eligibility criteria.
